In the world of custom home design, there is no moment more rewarding than watching a raw construction site evolve into a space that perfectly balances aesthetics and functionality.

Recently, Maple Style Living completed a signature modern kitchen renovation in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). By placing the "Before" photos side-by-side with the final "After" shots, the visual impact tells the story of our commitment to precision and luxury craftsmanship.

Take a walk with us through the journey of this transformation—from a cold, empty shell to a warm, sophisticated dream kitchen.

Phase 1: The Raw Canvas – Potential in the Making (Before)

At the start of the project, the site was a typical "rough-in" stage. As you can see, the space was defined by bare drywall, exposed plumbing, and unfinished flooring.

Note the rough-in locations for the pot filler (Fig. 1 & 3) and the standalone fridge . While the space felt cold, our team was already visualizing the precise lines of the future cabinetry.

Our client’s vision was clear: High-end minimalism, seamless integration, and a "wow" factor. They wanted a kitchen that felt expansive yet intimate—a challenge that requires not just design, but flawless execution.

Phase 2: The Grand Reveal – Where Art Meets Engineering (After)

Through the dedicated efforts of our design and installation teams, that grey construction zone has been reborn into this:

The transformation is breathtaking. The "concrete" look has been replaced with polished marble-veined tiles, and the once-standalone fridge is now perfectly integrated into a wall of custom tall cabinets (Fig. 5, left).

4 Standout Design Features of This Project:

1. The Bold Contrast: Calacatta Sintered Stone vs. Warm Wood Grain (Fig. 5 & 6) We utilized large-format Calacatta-veined sintered stone for the waterfall island, countertops, and full-height backsplash. The dramatic, cool-toned veining provides a luxurious focal point, perfectly balanced by the dark wood grain lower cabinets that add organic warmth to the modern space.

2. The Art of Hidden Storage: Integrated Appliances & Glass Displays (Fig. 7 & 8) To maintain a clean, handle-less silhouette, the fridge and dishwasher are fully integrated. We also designed a series of black-framed glass display cabinets with built-in LED lighting (Fig. 5, top right) to showcase the client’s fine dinnerware as pieces of art.

3. Precision in the Details: Rounded Edges & Linear Lighting (Fig. 6 & 9) One of the most technical aspects of this build is the rounded edge finish on the sintered stone island (Fig. 6). This softened corner eliminates sharp edges, adding a touch of elegance and safety. Furthermore, the linear LED under-cabinet lighting (Fig. 9) provides task lighting while accentuating the depth of the backsplash.

4. The Finishing Touches: Modern Sophistication (Fig. 7 & 8) The matte black faucet and sink (Fig. 7) contrast beautifully with the bright stone, while the crystal chandelier (Fig. 8) adds a layer of glamor. Even the pot filler we saw in the rough-in stage is now a functional, stylish centerpiece.
